Not Even Once
Meth. Big time problem in Montana. Big as these numbers:
* 52% of children in foster care are there due to Meth. Cost to the state: $12 million a year.
* 50% of adults in prison are there due to Meth-related crime. Cost to the state: $43 million a year.
* 20% of adults in treatment are there for Meth addiction. Cost to the state: $10 million a year.
The award winning Montana Meth Project is changing that through what might be the most intense and best executed anti-drug campaign in modern times. Take a look for yourself, if you think you can hang. This TV spot is MNSFW; but, then again, so is Meth.
It's worth noting that there hasn't been anything like this for the crack epidemic that's plagued inner city youth for years. Of course, in that case, it isn't suburban white kids who are throwing their lives away.
Thanks Chris!

Meth in Montana
Thanks, Patrick,
I was in Montana this summer visiting health clinics my company works with. I was astounded by the meth billboards everywhere--but not nearly as astounded as when I met with a health clinician who works in a Reservation who said that she's given up trying to get pregnant women to stop drinking and smoking during their pregnancy. If she can get them to stop shooting up meth it's a victory.
Indeed.
Following the link to Montana Meth project and watching their videos with my 13-year old daughter was also harrowing!
thanks.
