Overlooked Records Of 2008
By mid to late summer, many magazines' and blogs' best-of-the-year lists begin to resemble each other. And while we're still going bananas over Lil Wayne and Wolf Parade, we don't need anyone else to tell us to check them out. However, Pitchfork just posted a list of some of this year's best overlooked records, including work by Black Mountain, The Mae Shi, and Eryka Badu. It's a great collection, but it can't be definitive. What other albums have been overlooked by the mainstream music press this year? Let us know in the comments.

Chrisette Michele
Does Chrisette Michele's record count? She made VH1 artist of the month a while back (that is a best of list) but since then she seems to have fallen off the face of the Earth. I don't hear any of her songs on the radio, even internet radio. Her album "I Am" is awesome, soulful and inspiring. I hope she has a great long career.

Shearwater
I totally agree with the inclusion of Shearwater on this list; that album is fantastic.

Bon Iver
AND AND! Bon Iver's "Skinny Love." Stephen Thompson from NPR's Morning Edition said it best at the sxsw showcase—it's the quintessential heartbreak album, and "even if you're not breaking up with anyone, it creates a little break-up in your soul for you to mourn."
On the more upbeat side, Bodies Of Water's new album.
Currently listening to Spiritualized "Songs in A&E" which just came out. Enjoying it thoroughly...
