I would imagine drinking alcohol during a hot, crowded, rock concert while singing (and possibly dancing), would make singing more difficult as it would not quench thirst and irritate the throat.

not that rockstars live particularly healthy lifestyles (sometimes), but I would imagine this would have some kind of impact on their singing abilities, or even ability to perform due to dehydration.
